It’s a very dark and seductive scent—almost business gothic. Like a funeral. It’s the kind of scent a vampire would wear, if that makes sense.
It opens with a nice sharp saffron note and quickly melts into a beautiful rose and patchouli combo with vanilla and truffles. It’s like smelling wine, roses, and chocolate all at once. It’s very mysterious and unique, and I love it.
Maison margiela – By the Fireplace
If you ever wanted to smell like you’ve sat all night by a campfire, sharing stories, then By the Fireplace is it. I can’t think of anything else to say about it, but that’s exactly how it smells. You either think it’s great, or you don’t. Personally, I don’t like it because it’s too smoky for me, but I can imagine that people with a more adventurous or outdoor personality may enjoy it. That said, I can’t deny that it’s a very unique scent that will undoubtedly turn heads, though I’m not sure if it’s for the right reasons.
Ortigia Sicilia – Ambra Nera
This is a special fragrance. I needed to think pretty hard and ask myself how to describe what this smells like. I think the best way to word it is that you would smell like a 1980s drug cartel lord based on the West Coast of Colombia, sipping his tropical cocktail on a beach, enjoying his fortune—while maybe taking a little sniff of his own success. It smells very exotic and a bit dangerous. Definitely not for most younger dudes because it’s so mature. But if you have the type of personality to pull it off, Ambra Nera is a very unique and attention-grabbing fragrance.
Tom Ford – Ombre Leather
You’re free, and nobody tells you what you can and can’t do. They won’t mess with you—not because of how you look, but because your aura says more than enough. You wear a smirk that makes it seem like you hold information no one else knows. It gives off an air of extreme confidence, and that’s exactly how Ombre Leather smells. It kind of makes me think of the character Neal Caffrey from the show White Collar. He’s a renowned con man, art forger, and ladies’ man who makes incredible paintings, sculptures, and has knowledge of just about anything. That’s how well-rounded he—and this fragrance—is. It’s like a mix between the charm and charisma of Casanova and the impeccable skills and ingenuity of Da Vinci. That’s what this fragrance smells like and how you feel when wearing it.
